Tennessee, and settled on Duck River, eighteen miles from Shelbyville, where my father was born.

Nathan Bedford Forrest, the great Confederate cavalry leader, was the son of a blacksmith by the name of William Forrest, a neighbor of my grandfather on Duck River, and it is not unlikely that he was my grandfather's blacksmith.

As a curiosity of the times, I have obtained a copy of the deed to forty acres of land to my grandfather, dated April 1, 1819, as follows:

ADREN ANGLE TO HENRY WORMOTH FOR 40 ACRES

This Indenture made this first day in April in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Nineteen Between Adren Angle of the County of Bedford and State of Tennessee of the first part & Henry Wormath of the same State and County of the other part.

Witnesseth, that the said Adren Angle for and in consideration of the sum of One Hundred and fifty Dollars, the Receipt Whereof is hereby acknowledged, Hath given granted bargained and sold and by these Presents doth give grant & Sell And Convey in fee Simple unto the said Henry Wormotb his heirs and assigns forever a Certain place or Parcel of Land Situate lying and being in the County of Bedford on the Waters of the North fork of Duck River and Bounded as follows: Beginning at a hickory William Burnett North East Corner running West Eighty four Poles To a Forked Ceder thence North fifty Eight Poles to Two Ceders in the South boundary line of a Survey in the Name of George Sanders Thence East With said line fifty one and half Poles to his South East Corner Thence: North With his East boundary line forty Six Poles to a Hickory Thence East Thirty and a half Poles to a stake in Richard Trotters West boundary line thence South With said line to the Beginning Containing by Estimation forty Acres it being the Same more or Less, To Have And To Hold The aforesaid land and bargained Premises With all And Singular the fights Property imoluments and appertinances thereunto belonging or in any Wise appertaining Thereunto, To the only Proper use of him the said Henry Wormouth his heirs And Assigns forever & the said Adren Angle for himself his heirs Est And adm. doth Covenant and agree to and With the said Henry Warmoth his heirs & assigns to Warrant & forever defend The aforesaid Land & Bargain Premises
